Re: I totally disagree...
This all depends on what you tried.  There is a lot of BS doing the rounds as spiritual practice.  I tried everything in the tradition I grew up with and it mostly came short on delivering as promised (in retrospect I approached it wrong i.e. with the intellect instead of the heart).  I then tried many other paths and after years of carrying on with what seemed at first to be the most simple and rudimentary practice (mindfulness) in conjunction with contemplation of impermanence, dependant arising and "lack of inherent self existence of all phenomena" much that previously seemed senseless and stupid started to make sense from an experiential angle (rather than a "think about it" with pure reason and logical consistency angle) until I rather suddenly found myself in an experience that simply blew my mind and erased all doubts.  Once you've gone through this you can still understand the other points of view but you can never again entertain them as anything more than fictions (regardless of how lucid and "right" they seem) about reality.  The funny thing is that it is by means of some of these fictions that we end up on the doorstep of reality, but it is no use explaining this if you are not standing on that doorstep yourself.
