- Go to Obama: Remove Flag from Plane, Distance Self from Rapper's Endorsement
Writer
This kind of thing takes away from the essence of democracy by taking the focus away from what is important. You are looking at him taking a company logo, which was disrespectful to begin with, off the plane that is to be used for his campaign. He replaced the disrespectful logo with his campaign logo, one that uses the colors of this country in a very respectful way while not showing disrespect to the flag. On the truly ignorant would find flaw in this. To bring it to the forefront and try to play it out as if it was important trivializes the bigger picture and create false images that could effect the outcome of the election all over the wrong issues.
That has been the kind of thing that keeps on hurting democracy time and again and allows for people like Bush to get into office through playing these games, and totally ruin our system of government while those who fall for his games cheer him on.

Re: there are times i think you are weird
No offense taken at all! Liberals
always think conservatives are weird! But you must like it, because you keep coming back for more; in fact, you've paid me more to share my opinions than even Exxon Mobil has! Thanks, my friend!

Re: I was wondering when the 'plane' issue would pop up here
Welcome, kooka!
Glad to have you chiming in.
I believe I addressed both your concerns and those of Xenox about the corporate logo. Again I ask - how could he have not been aware of a potential PR problem in how he handled this, especially when you couple it with his ludicrous, as it were, "presidential" seal?
And you'll note - I offered the facts behind the situation instead of merely flying off the handle about it like some of my conservative brethren have done. If you'll recall, I took precisely the same approach in what I think was the very first post in which I called into question not his actions but how his actions would be interpreted. The issue at hand was whether or not he saluted the flag; see http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/WriterofLight1342/530010 for that discussion.
Now I have a question for you: How does my expressing my opinion and my interpretation of events "take away from our democracy"? On the contrary - I honor your freedom to state your opinions regardless of whether or not I agree with them, because that freedom is essential to a democracy. Do you or do you not extend that honor to me as well?
I'll explore the issue of whether or not Obama is really the better person to lead the world's largest economy soon. There's lots to consider there, and you will have a deuce of a time dismissing it as propaganda.

I was wondering when the 'plane' issue would pop up here
So Obama should have left the plane with a corporate logo on it? What Obama did makes sense. He is not suppose to be flying around with a corporate logo on his plane, that would be like him advertising for them. And he still has the American Flag on his plane in a more respectful manner. Did you know that using the American flag in the manner seen in the 'before' shot is actually technically disrespect for the flag?
" The flag should never be used for any advertising purpose."
You can learn about flag etiquette here. Interestingly enough, all those napkins and paper plates they print out for the holidays with the American flag on them, that is showing disrespect for the flag as well.
And I love how you seem to over look the fact that on the Snopes page they also show McCain plane. I saw no flag at all on his plane. Most likely he has one similar to the one on Obama's plane, nice and respectful.
And of course to go after him for his connection to Ludacris is really the truth of hierocracy. Is it just like how McCain at first was talking abto how great Rev. Parsley was and how wise and all bout that. Then Rev. Parsley went and spited out a really hate -filled anti-Muslim message that actually endorsed genocide of the Muslim people. It took McCain's group no time at all to try and distance themselves from Parsley.
So by logic everything you said here to try and make Obama look bad, is the same kind of things that should be held equally against McCain. Playing these childish games you keep on playing only helps to take away from our democracy. I don't care about the party alliances. I have gone and looked at the ideas of both candidates and I have looked at some of the various 'possible outcomes' by people in the 'know' and it is really obvious to me that Obama is the best man for the job. No matter how many insignificant little pieces of propaganda you find to try and make him look bad, that is not about to change any time soon.

there are times i think you are weird
don't mean to offend, friend.
but had Mr. Obama left the flag on the tail then it would have been identified as a craft of the airline -- and maybe the airline asked for the overhaul -- it distinguishes the aircraft from others. No sleight there that I can see.
the scandal is all the conservatives trying to make something out of nothing.
The tactics used by conservatives (there's a long list of misrepresentation and lack of truth, particularly from Christians) tell me I should have no use for them at all -- in fact, do all in my power to counter their BS.
You P me off, my friend. And I am being quite generous here.

Don't....
judge a man by the company he keeps. I have many friends who are worse than rappers. Drug dealers and users, thieves spousal abusers(male and female) and even a a murderer or two. Many of the people that I know do. That doesn't make us bad people. It just makes us people who know people who have done bad things. But if you talk to and listen to us and not the people we know, than you will find out we do not act the same as they do. Everyone must be judged by their own character on an individual basis not someone elses.
