TAPS.
That black notebook is sitting on my desk, beggining me to thumb through it. I've ignored it thus far, but I don't know how long I can hold out.

I love this one and I've always wanted to see more of your poetry.  I'll just bet its not as bad as you would like for us to think.

The thing is, if we never made a beginning, even a bad beginning
there'd never be progress toward the good. Can't remember who said it, but I believe it, talent is ten percent inspiration, ninety percent perspiration. I used to plunk around on an old piano, in my kindest moments would never call what I did "music." But it was good for me, even so. I've enjoyed your writing so much Talion, and the blogs of those who comment here. Bad beginning, happy ending. :)pat

I went through a drawing phase, but it frustrated me to no end. I have a small degree of talent, but nowhere near enough to translate whatever image I have in my head to the page. After alternating between pulling my hair out and beating my head against the wall, I finally switched to photography. Only then could I capture the image exactly as I saw it.

Like many of the young, I believed whole heartedly I could change the world. This poem was wriiten at a time when it was slowly dawning on me that I couldn't.

I have an old milk crate filled with journals from my college days, close to three thousand hand-written pages. I flipped through a few of them a while ago, thinking it may be interesting to post some of my entries. Bad idea. It's hard to believe and more than a little embarrassing to see what ran through my head when I was nineteen.

I drew cartoons mostly when I was a kid..

occasionally, I would hammer out a few stories off of my grandmothers old typewriter.

btw..nice poem!

In a little over your head

But I will hold my breath  (not angry, but red)

I found an old diary - I was reading the words of a spoiled little brat.... then I realized it was mine  but after a while it was quite funny. Like finding old letters.

Got one of those notebooks of early writing, too...
from my Man From UNCLE fan days... soooo embarrassing, even alone with it...
