Talion, this is why fiction is so beautiful. You can go anywhere with that
if only people thought to explore ugly truths that way.

I love your last paragraph.  I wouldn't want to find something out in public either.   I'd rather just be ignorant or find out for myself and go hide.   I love the thought of a beautiful Queen V, who spends her working hours helping sick people, and having a loving man of her own, being a fan of the Jerry Springer show.  HAHAHAHA.    That's as good as finding out that my son's little friendly neighbor lady is Betty Nicoli, Blond Bombshell of National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

There is compensation, airfare to the taping, a night or two in a nice hotel, and a couple meals. Alas, I know there are people who are that dumb and that horrible. What I can't understand is why they would expose themselves for so little?

I've convinced myself

that those people are paid to be there, and none of their stories are true. Because I just can't stand believing that there are people in the world who really are that dumb, or horrible.

Part of it is because of her rather sheltered upbringing. She didn't know people like this existed in this day and age. In America anyway. You're right. Considering the life and death dramas she witnesses every day at the hospital, I imagine entertainment such as this could be a pleasant diversion.

It can definitely be a pick-me-up, that's for sure. Sometimes I wonder if that's the show's true purpose, a blatant, no-holds-barred expression of "I'm glad that's not me."

The truly sad thing is these people actually believe they have a life.

Sometimes when I'm feeling really low, when I feel like a
worthless slug with no backbone, no purpose in life, I tune in Jerry Springer. I look at those people and how they've screwed up their lives, their pointless existence, and it usually cheers me right up. At least my stupid mistakes aren't on TV where people can laugh at me.

I can't stand the show
One minute of watching it and I'm telling  these people on the tv (like they can hear me) to shut up, grow up, and get a life!  LOL
