New best friend
First impression is so important.
In the 8th grade I moved from a very posh area to the outskirt of a larger city. The school was worn down and nothing like I was used to. To my surprice they were all so naturally nice and joyful and embraced me to their group instantly. I was very suspicious - didn't trust them for a moment. Where I came from you always had to be better, richer, more popular - everyday was a fight with yourself. The last class was an English class and this girl sat down beside me. We didn't talk much but she just pointed at my book to show me where we were to start. The first time we spoke was at the end of the class. Where do you live, she asked? I told her. Ah, I live on the same street, we'll go together.
She was my best friend for 20 years.
Unfortunally she passed away at the age of 36 and I miss her everyday. But I am so thankfull that we moved to that area, that school, that street.
