This is for real?
It sounds like fiction to me! Hey if I am ever short on ideas... 'Arthur Boyt greedily swat at the flies buzzing around the flattened badger in the road, his dinner, which would last him the next two days. As he reached in his duffle bag for his trusty utensils, a metal spatula and meat cleaver, he looked nervously down the road, hoping a truck would not come barreling towards him, for then he would have no choice but to get out of the way and let his dinner be spread even flatter, oozing into the creveses of the hot pavement.' ...or something like that!

Before roadkills, we were hunters. There's not much difference except that he doesn't even have to spend any energy trying to catch something. As for strange animals to eat: the aborigenes in Australia still eat iguana, flying foxes and snakes, a tribe of rat hunter in India still eat big juicy rats, and some very big spiders in South Am. are supposed to taste like crab! So, take your pick!LOL

In the poem I used owlingly, it was for wisdom and figuratively for solemn appearance as assigned to humans. Shelly

There's lots of free meat in the world...
Besides roadkill, there are those great big banana slugs in the yard all summer... Escargot instead of Ex-car-gone...

I know where he could get lots of flattened turtles for turtle soup. The road that runs between the two parts of La Cygne Lake in Kansas is always ripe with large roadkill turtles that didn't make it to the other side.
