As much as one would like to remain impartial, Naut, I do not believe
anyone is 'above the fray'.  And I think it unhealthy for the individual and the society for them to internalize what they think and feel...

Oh, I'm just giving her kudos for slapping Bush around a bit, Glennb. I
give no politician a "pass" simply because they're wheelers and dealers, the lot of them...

That may be, mysteria, due to the fact that comedians tend to wipe away
the whitewash and horse crap to see what lies beneath, especially comedians like Carlin...

No, EX TURPI, I would never disrespect the female gender. I might
disrespect one female (although I try not to do that unless its Ann Coulter).  But, no, I was referring to the cliche, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned," and directing it toward Bush's remarks about Congress doing nothing just the day previous to Pelosi's remarks...

Sounds like a Republican piece of legislation to me, Kolekshuns, which
may be why she's blocking it.  I'll have to check it out...

And I meant no disrespect, TAPS, just referring to the oft--used cliche of
"a woman scorned..."

I'm with you there, vickip. Like her or not, Pelosi is direct. She seems
to be a bit more honest than many on the Hill, sort of as if she missed the first day orientation that taught Washington politicians how to bullshit...

Thanks, cheugon, and I did not know that about Pelosi...

Saul
Indeed! Furthermore, there seems to be a fundamental difference between the British parliamentary tradition, still practiced here, and the American one. Here, the Speaker, regardless of party affiliation, is supposed to remain 'above the fray', as it were, and would never utter comments like that about the Prime Minister or the government...

Saul_Relative,
Let us not be too quick in giving Speaker Pelosi a pass! She in effect has mostly rubber stamped every initiative of this President. She should include herself in the rebuke of George Bush!

I must admit, I have lost a lot of respect for the office of the
presidency of these United States.  And too when Gore won the Nobel, well, that shot that way down too.

On your statement on George Carlin, now that he is deceased, I can see him easily gaining prophet status! To me comics are by far among the greatest contributors.

ex_turpi .. I think the comment was a reference to the ...
"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" quote.

I could not relate your caption to the post. To me it either says Congress is scorned because a woman is in charge, or Congress should not be scorned because there is a woman in charge. Either way you would not be according a woman much respect and equality. I am sure you intend neither.

Looks aren't everything!

Are you aware that Ms Pelosi is allowing a doctrine called the Fairness Doctrine

to not be put to a vote which will take away freedom of speech?  Everything

that goes on air, whether radio, TV, Sattelite, or anything else will be monitored

by the FTC.  Including religious broadcasting.  It will be done through the Fairness

Doctrine. Believe me, there is nothing fair about the fairness doctrine.  If you want

to help stop it you must go to aclj.org and sign the petition to put it to a vote

before the election or we could all be doomed!

Saul_relative, If it had been you saying, "When You Scorn Congress, Remember There's A Woman In Charge..." I would have had a fit.  HAHAHAHA.   But, since it was Nancy, it's OK.

I saw this earlier today ... what a speaker, huh? She's a lot easier
on the eyes than the last 20 or so, lol.  Take Tip O'Neil, oy vey!  Of course what I just said would have pist me off if anyone else had said it, haha.  She definitely tells it like it is ... I like that in a person, a lot.
