I wondered the same thing! But then, careers, reputations, entire countless lives have been built around the 'race thing', sometimes openly, sometimes surreptitiously - we can't expect that whole cast to suddenly walk of the stage of history, can we? 
(And I do hope your recovery is coming along well...)

You are sooooo on the money with this one.....when are those folks who can't let go of an excuse and get on with this century going to recognize that they are committing the very act they are accusing others of when they presuppose action and motive based on skin color? The old "when you point to others, three fingers are pointing back at yourself" analogy was never as true in this world as it often seems to be now......it would be laughable if it weren't so sad......
