It's good to hear you're good to your mother, Gome...
And also good that you get back to the church from time to time, to refresh your memory. I don't remember seeing a clawfoot bathtub in a Catholic church, but I can tell you for sure the one in my bathroom does not contain holy water. :)pat

Dark_Moon - that's really the point, 3 or 4 times a year doesn't kill me

and besides . . . it gives me blog material.

This was one of the most humorous Blogit reads in memory. I enjoyed it start to finish. I'm more than impressed that you set aside your own...I hate to call them 'beliefs' for much the same reason that I don't like to call 'beliefs' what is my own experience of 'reality'...so, whatever it is 'personal experience of reality', 'personal experience of truth', whatever, 'beliefs'...I'm impressed that you set them aside to accomodate your mother. It's a noble thing to do. I'm all for being noble and caring for our fellow man...or in this case, mother. I'm not a Christian but, I guess you might say it is the 'Christian thing to do'. I couldn't do that sort of thing every day but, 3 or 4 times a year is a sacrifice I'm willing to endure. Moon

Soul_Builder101 - your comment sounds like another way of saying what you

have always maintained.

Luz_Briar - that's the entire problem in a nutshell
If you are forced to sit quietly for a period of time and you are not into the service, it's a killer. The mind will go somewhere else and before you know it you are masking that near chuckle with a throat clearing. Its a good thing that the catholics are into the repetitive aerobics with the sit, kneel, stand, sit, kneel, stand thing. It forces the disinterested to stay awake.

Xeno-x - I don't know what the requirements are or what the time frames are
But it does seem that as far as the catholic church goes, throwing a few bucks their way is always a good idea.

ZenMom - I feel the same way, there is no point in upsetting an elderly

person over differences of religious opinion.

In the few instances per year where I find myself amongst them acting as their taxi driver, I just keep my mouth shut.

when i'd get bored in church, i'd usually end up laughing at something that happened 4 weeks ago because my mind would wander. i didn't feel too guilty, b/c the priest sometimes looked like he was doing the same thing

I took the liberty of dropping in to say that Vatican-derived Christian culture is all a sham. I agree with that. They don't know God from a bullfrog and all their pious body language will not change that!  Yet , there are people who love the Lord...love enough to script their lives by.  This transforms once you get into it. If you don't...you really won't know! Zionist arguments  presented as the European school of philosophy are dead ends...as was meant to be! Cheerio!

the priest was saying she's already there

but aren't you supposed to light candles to help her along because she isn't there yet?

better yet, give indulgences or whatever - a little money to the local parish and she's another inch or so along on her way

whatever

she was already dead for a few days -- so why do the incense thing -- either she was there already or is in the waiting room.

if it takes some days or even more time to get to meet St. Peter, then that old prayer must be useless.

"May you be in Heaven a half hour before the Devil knows you're dead."

I always liked that one.

I'm with you on this.......it is the right thing to do. I have no problem w/ giving the elderly and the terminally ill a PASS when it comes to belief in god/mumbo jumbo. I would NEVER challenge the beliefs of my grandmother (who is 94)..........she is certain that she will be seeing her husband and daughter when she finally "passes over".
