Xeno-x
This is a really good look at our attempts to prolong life that is ready to make a move. I, as you know, am a believer in the 'born again' faith. I believe death is simply a step into another world of life. I don't want to be kept alive artificially. I believe this is each persons choice. As for me I had no choice to my coming and I would prefer to have no choice to my going I want to allow God total control over it. Good post.

In our culture, we are not used to nor ready for death.
It takes a while to arrive at the level of even theoretically accepting it. But if you haven't arrived there, and suddenly have to be there in reality, it can be devastating. It isn't easy even when you think you are prepared: some things can't be adequately prepared-for.
What you think comes next makes a difference, too.
