As for your theory about pre-1940 warming, wrong. It was a natural warming as the Earth emerged from the "Little Ice Age."

the atmosphere was polluted by coal burning plants, etc.  This could account for some warming I would htink

Then when change to natural gas and cleaner burning emissions came on line, the effects of coal eased as did the temperature

with the increase in emissions in the past several decades came a corresponding increase in temperature.

I'll have to resurrect the ice core graph reaching back 600,000 years again.  That says a lot.
