family history is so fascinating, it's why we should all write down
things about our lives and leave them to a younger generation, or donate them to a library.

Your Grandpa sounds a lot like my Great-Grandpa, smittenheimer. I've posted about him quite often here, and if you care to take the time to scroll through my posts, you'll understand why. I'm very sorry for the loss of your grandpa's sight. My Grandpa had severe RA, Angina, and was Diabetic for most of his life, and in his later years endured a horrible amount of pain. I rejoice to know his suffering is over now.
My sorrow also for the loss of your Grandpa...

I miss my grandpa so... I don't know why maybe it's cause he didn't mess with me as much as the rest. In his later years he could see very little, what I recall is watching him in his chair palms together, eyes closed listening... he looked like a little bhudda statue and was such a kind soul
