Like Rumored, I've had my problems with Bell as well - a total pain in the butt. And I remember the reluctance (or often outright refusal) on the part of businesses to accept credit cards the last time I was in Europe - I think you're right, they just don't want to pay the charges...And I absolutely hate moving, even if it's moving back home...

auslander, phone companies drive us all crazy..here in Canada we switched
from Bell (who monopolized it all up until a few years ago) to the same Co. that handles our internet...Bell is a pain in the butt with calls and letters to us every day (not exaggerating) asking us to come back...
and of course, it's all automated, so how do we stop it?...I'm glad you got yours taken care of....
