I should have added here that "Aarde" means "Earth" as in planet Earth and there is also the connotation of earth as in dust, as well as being earthed or grounded in the electrical sense of an earth.

"Aardige" can be translated as "weird/strange/different" or "earthly/earthy" depending on the context. If you put "eien" in front of it (eienaardige), it means something uniquely strange or something with it's own peculiar nature. "Aard" is the nature of a thing. I intend it to carry all the above meanings at once.

You have not given us the meaning of the adjective in your name. I think that probably is more defining? My impression of the South African experience is not favorable but it is not within my purview to condemn. When schackled with either the notion of superiority or inferiority the outcome is usually tragic!
