Re: I'd like to hear Shelton's side of the story.
vickip, Shelton's choices are always money driven at our university and never anything but money driven.
I think that he'd like every department to bring in the bucks like the basketball team does.....and he may just figure out how to make that happen.

Alright now, see I do care and here's the letter so you know some of us in Blogit really are family.

Robert N. Shelton, President
Administration Building
Room 712
1401 East University Boulevard
Tucson, Arizona 85721-0066
Dear President Robert Shelton:
In your State of the University address of November 2007 you expressed a commitment to increasing diversity, to enriching higher education, and to the University of Arizona's attention global issues. To quote you directly, for example, to "unlocking the secrets for feeding the undernourished." Your comments suggested a concern for the global community and all its members.
That is why I am writing to express my concern and support for Dr. Julian Kunnie and the Africana Studies Department at the University of Arizona. I understand that you are planning to remove Dr. Kunnie from his position and that you are not committed to a vibrant and dynamic Africana Studies department.
As Director of Africana Studies since 2002, Dr. Kunnie has played an important role in facilitating ties between the University and the greater community, in focusing the Africana Studies depart on Africa's true needs and interests, and in directing students toward greater awareness in global issues. The Africana Studies department, the Humanities Department, the University and the greater community all benefit from Dr. Julian Kunnie's leadership in ways that serve your tenure as President of the University.
Please insure that Dr. Kunnie's position is secure and commit to an expansion of Africana Studies.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
John A G
