Re: Wigopa
Thank you for this response..I can see why now in my own youth..That liked minded Lakota prayed together after fasting for the day..This surely sheds more light on this subject of the dark side..

Thanks Sue! With your love for music, I guess you sing all day. Some days I whistle and sing for long hours. Music is good for you!

Re: Soul Builder
Thanks Hilow! The great thing about typing is that I don't need to speak. I was going to do a second post on SILENCE but I opted to throw out some of those ideas via these comments! Watching in silence builds awareness. You can eventually SEE the key factors in happenings. This leads to understanding. With understanding comes patience as you practise it in your own life with regard to people and pursuits. Waiting patiently for self-growth or growth of others is not easy. Some people do not want to awaken!

Rightly said, Afzal. Noise has its friends and afficionados!

Silence is the only state in which one can reach out and actually detect a reaching back. Sorry if I am not reading as much, I will make that up in the coming weeks! Have a great day too! Thanks!

Silence gives you a featureless canvas on which all the inner workings show up. The soul revels in silence and peace descends in this state. The dark side is busy, within, trying to push you into some activity. Lack of action kills the power of the dark side. So even though there is no speech, it is usually finding other ways of diverting you from peace. Detection of all its tricks is done in silence! Soap operas give good examples of dark sides in action. The dark side has no brain to use, it uses only programming. So instead of verbalising profound truth like the soul, it specialises in using power body language, clever intonations, one-liners and loaded words to create effect. But nothing profound comes out!

Such protocols among the gatherings of the wise were found among yogis of long ago. Nowadays, oratory and who can verbally overpower the other takes its place. This practice of the Lakotas encouraged the poise and harmony of the soul. It could then relax and probe the world of ideas for intuitions, which they conveyed to the others. The olden Hindus in my youth, would smoke the holy herb, take readings from their scripture and relate what they intuited. They were actually doing meditation... soul meditation. All the protocols were meant to give no food to the dark side so it would contract and let the soul be itself. Care has to be taken in today's world with going into sublime states. As the soul forgets the dark side and attunes to that world which is available in silence (but not in noise), dark side people can give your dark side energy, or noise to grow. This shocks the soul. It was done to me. Meditation is a very fragile state and must be done in protected areas or among similar people!

Re: there is a proverb that says that even a fool when he shutteth his lips is
Thanks RabbitFrom........! Maybe that's the trick the Yogis use. I know Gurus who play the role well. Very pious, quiet, and not easily accessible (their close devotees shield them).... this give them a reputation. Even quiet people are not to be trusted because silence points to something that may not be there. Still waters can run shallow!

Thanks! That's a hard question. I don't think it is a case of compensation in the mature years. It could be confidence caused by education or knowledge. It could be that the person is now confident that he/she belongs to the human race, finally. I was very shy in my youth, but spoke up when I had to. I am still very quiet now. It could be many things. It could be the dark side doing it, because in the later years it has a bigger set of programming to draw on. The dark side can sing or recite poetry and scripture through control of the voice box. These days I am fighting its singing. It picks the songs I liked most in the past...si I will cooperate with it. Hope this helped.

Re: All I can think of is the words from the song...."Silence is Golden"
Thank you Kabu! Glad to see you up and around. I'm not around too much, but I am trying to solve that. Silence is indeed very valuable, maybe more than gold. It grows on you if you learn to ignore the promptings and triggers. To have someone who offends you in a neck-lock but say nothing and walk away, takes great courage. To know the answer but let someone else give it takes great control. Winning is sometimes losing. Thought I would slip these in here to show the power that silence confers. Those Yogis, I have discovered (at least most I have encountered) do not have a clue abot the internal fight. They uphold traditions, for the most part. Of course, holy people are revered in India so being worshipped as Guru is quite a temptation! You are my friend. Believe me you are no disgrace. Life has  been unkind to both of us, yet we learnt to give the love that we never received! That's something! Take care!

I applaud this - I'm glad you spoke instead of sitting in silence and keeping it to yourself.    I believe patience and silence go hand in hand.

Many find my silence annoying.  But I have a tendency not to talk or speak my mind until I know what's going on.  Sometimes I forget, I'll shoot off my mouth...and then all hell breaks lose.  It's not pretty, and I don't like it.  This was a nice read, thanks Dave!

Reminded me of this quote~~

Conversation was never begun at once, nor in a hurried manner. No one was quick with a question, no matter how important, and no one was pressed for an answer. A pause, giving time for thought was the truly courteous way of beginning and conducting a conversation. Silence was meaningful with the Lakota, and his granting a space of silence to the speechmaker and his own moment of silence before talking was done in the practice of true politeness and regard for the rule that "thought comes before speech".

(Luther Standing Bear.)

There is a lot of truth in listening to everything before you speak..Great post!
