Re: Sira890,

Glenn, lovely to see you popping in, and I'm glad you enjoyed the read!

As to "other" comments, I feel I should clarify--being the tireless optimist that I sometimes am, I firmly believe that everyone has the capacity for kindness, and the ability to play nicely with others. It is this faith that drives me, and nothing more.

Sira890,
Felt I needed to pay a visit to a fellow Blogger. I enjoyed the read, thus I will reserve the right to respond to your "other" comments later.

Re: Isn't there a bit of rodeo involved? Seems to me I remember

Pat,

There's quite a lot of rodeo at the Stampede. When it started, I think that was the main event--bull riding, calf roping, bronco riding...all the usual stuff. There are wagon races as well, which are always wildly popular with some, and the stuff of great controversy for others--something about mistreatment of the horses, that comes up every year.

LOL--you Mundane folks can come on down any time! We've got loads of taxi's and public transit

Re: I had a blast at the Calgary stampede ... the entire time gets

Drinking seems to be the theme of the whole event, although there are some times set aside for carnival rides and horrible fairway foods!

The Banff Hotel is a sight in itself--I've been lucky enough to actually stay there several times, and it's truly an amazing place!

Thanks for reading

Re:

vogue, I seem to have lost track of you as well, somewhere along the way. But I've found you again, so all is well!

I'm actually in Canada, coming to you "live" from the province of Alberta.

Re: sounds like something I should have done when I was just a tad younger!!!!

LOL Kabu! When Wiley is back on his feet and at 100%, you two love birds will have to make a trip down to our fine city, and take in the Stampede--it's a show for all ages!

Isn't there a bit of rodeo involved? Seems to me I remember
something about bull riding and competitions at Calgary. It's a lucky thing gas is so expensive and you don't get folks from Mundane flocking to your highways and byways -- the traffic here is bogged and snarled on good days.

I had a blast at the Calgary stampede ... the entire time gets
drunk.  We went up to the Banf hotel and that is the most beautiful site coming up the mountain ... lake Louise in the background.  Loved it!

I don't know why I missed out on you for so long. I so love writes about other parts of the US and you have such a vivid style. But that's now remedied, you are in my favorite list, so I won't miss out again.

Re: Sira

Naut,

It's a spectacle, for sure. And if you don't see it every year, it can be a thrill a minute! Back in the wild and crazy days of my youth, I lived for Stampede week!

I can't even begin to tell you how relieved I'll be, to have at least one person who knows what they're doing on the road!

Sira
Coffee spiked with Baileys? Orange juice spiked with vodka? That's my kinda scene! Too late this year, but next year I'm gonna make the Calgary Stampede! And don't worry, in T.O. we know about city driving...
