..got a big chuckle out of that...and so exactly true...events that i lived through when younger are now routinely portrayed in an entirely different light..the lens of history...oh, and i misspelled 'deifies'...although it probably all works out the same...moon

Dark_Moon - I always get a kick out of some of the explicit details passed

to us in any kind of history.

One needs only to experience knowing the truth of a newspaper story for example, to fully appreciate how fallible human chronicle really is. Back a number of years ago, lightning struck a crowded grandstand of a local highschool football game killing 3 people and injuring a dozen others. One of my friends was thrown from the top of the grandstand onto the ground below but suffered only minor injuries. As the ambulances arrived, so too did a local newspaper reporter who promptly began interviewing witnesses. Diligently writing down the names of each witness, including my friend, he hurriedly wrote his story to meet his press deadline. Only problem with his story was that the deceased were now giving eyewitness testimony to their own demise and the living witnesses had now joined the list of the departed. . . . this mix up took place over just a few hours with everything fresh in a seasoned reporter's mind . .. . what is the likelihood of history written years after the events being chronicled have of being entirely accurate?

...history either glamorizes and defies or vilifies and demonizes...everybody is some mixture of both 'good' and 'bad'...whatever they might be...moon

Re: But it makes for a great story, huh! :)
Pat_B - Yes it did make for some good stories, enough so that I bought into it hook, line and sinker back at that young age.
