On Poetry
... sometimes imo people are looking for escape from mundane sorts of information and hope to find something to switch the mind gears into a better place. I hope my poetry brings a kind of peaceful sometimes sexy, kinda trippy little journey to another place, even if for the brief moment you visit there.

In anything that is written I enjoy metaphor and also minimalness
of expression

Quotes are one of my favorite ways of understanding...

Poetry is very subjective and open to interpretation and sometimes not easily defined rather abstract and never confined

Great Post!
Though you left out Whitman, Sandburg and Hughes, who considered themselves poets of the people but were also followers of the long tradition of the prophet-bard.

There certainly ıs a lot of poetry around blogıt, but on the other hand, as you yourself so rightly say: why not? I consider blogit a forum where I can try out any form of writing there ıs to see what works best. I have trıed poetry and I know very well that that ıs NOT my strength, but from tıme to tıme I just feel like ıt. Even you sweetheart most kındly liked some of my poetıc outpourıng for whıch I am very grateful because ın my eyes, you are a master of the poetıc word. Take care of yourself darling and keep them comıng!!!

I would have to say, there is a story in every poem.

Blogit may not be what it once was, but the majority of active writers here are not the same as a year ago...so it's natural that the course of blogit has changed.

Who knows, a year from now, blogit may be quite different yet. You just have to go with the flow.

Purple Mermaid...
There does seem to be a lot of poetry posts.  I don't know whether my experiments a truly poetry or not, but I think of poetry being a lot like jazz, constant improvision to express a feeling or experience.

poetry
is the quickest way to get across a feeling, a moment, a brief flash of emotion. I think that's why people enjoy writing it. Since poetry is not something people buy a lot of these days, I think places like Blogit are teeming with writers who enjoy the art form but have not pursued being published.

I started to write my "poetry" for just to give it a try, I never have and still dont understand most poetry and obviously not too many enjoy the poetry that I do attempt to write, but it has given me a way to express my heart to those that want to read it. But I think I am in the wrong catergory and was thinking about at least taking one of my  blogs to another subject

Very Nice.....Such a great write.......poetry in my words....

When you can't find another one to comfort you, take the word self and put it together to comfort, when no one to heal you, just heal self, let your emotion flow in poetry and songs, it will heal others......

THAT'S MY STYLE......THERE is no rule, regulation.....free to Rock on....

I love this write Jen!!!!

Wonderful statement Jeannie thank you for sharing all the hard work researching on poetry i can only add to what you have already stated poetry is about feelings i write essentially from something or someone or action that occurs real or imagined as you said ....life.

Why not ! that's right why not! poetry is simply this or at least it should be, it is an outlet simply an expression of one's self, it is a picture, a mirrored image of one's self, it is colors made out of words, it is smell without an odor, it is a garden where the fruit can be seen but not eaten, it is an undoing of ones self, like string coming of of the spool, only it never ends, it is an eternal echo of the soul, spilled onto the table of life.

Well done! I love the writers you mention and the reason for poetry's
existence.  The great writers used poetry as their form of expression, observation and cataloguing of the world.  Blogit changes and people come and go, using their most comfortable form of communication, whether journaling, poetry or art, to continue to express themselves.  My headlines are often for clicks and fun...I mean no harm by my recent blogs on poetry. As I've said many times on here, poetry is actually MY favorite form of writing, too.
