What an interesting post, KaBooM. My son was in Japan for three years and he speaks often of being a "second class" person there. He felt it very strongly.

You certainly find yourself in a somewhat disturbing situation, to say the least. It is interesting to me, because I was not aware of this apparently quite deep-seated Japanese racism(?) or xenophobia (?) - without knowing more about it, I don't know what to call it! There are important differences though, and thinking about it yesterday, I was also contemplating doing a post on the difference...
