Personally, I think it says a lot about our perception of marriage
In the US getting married has become almost trendy. People think it's grand fun, and they seem to be rushing to the alter more and more. And, naturally, if you get married because you think it's the "cool" thing to do, you can expect to find yourself also rushing to the courts 6 months down the road, to divorce your grand plan and try it all again.
Canadians might be sinful and godless, but we save money on divorce filings.
Another great piece--I especially enjoyed your speculation on birth rates and trends. As always, you're insightful and thoughtful and well spoken, and I've learned a lot!
