Re: All My Children's Storylines are Dragging
You are one hundred percent right on about storylines dragging on AMC! But, there are some things I need to defend to you.
ABC had hired a new headwriter (from GH) to work on AMC.
As for Annie/Ryan, she was paired with him to quickly and never drew my interest, but, over time I have come to like ANNIE, still cant stand Ryan, but am starting to come around and care for Annie.
As for replacing Colby, I think that was a mistake, I liked the old one better, but as the teen storyline is starting to unfold, we will see if it is better than last summer with Colby/Sean/Ava.
As for Erica in prison I commend AMC for telling this story in real time. Due to the fact that so often stories are unrealistically fast. Characters have gone to school to become doctors and returned two years later as interns at Pine Valley Hospital. That is why I think AMC should be commended for telling this story in real time.
Thank you so much for your opinion. I hope you do enjoy my blog, and I just wanted to show you my side, however, I really do agree with the majority of your post!

All My Children's Storylines are Dra
I just can’t get excited about what is going on with All My Children. I am trying to muster up some enthusiasm for the serial, but I find it very uninspiring. Truth told, it’s been faltering for quite some time now. The writers are digging deep, but they haven’t written anything passionate yet. Let’s see, Erica’s in prison and she’s been in there for a while, (ho-hum). Recently they brought back Angie and Jesse and their son Frankie, grown up and interning as an MD at Pine Valley Hospital. Jesse was of course, dead, but he’s back. Greenlee’s back and she’s picked up right where she left off. The writers even brought Greg, (Tad and Jesse’s photographer friend who was married to Tad’s sister Jenny way back in the day) back so he could attend the Hubbards’ re-marriage.
But let me ask a question here; who cares about Ryan and Annie Lavery? They never made Annie’s appearance in Pine Valley or her inevitable putting down of roots believable for most of the viewing audience. And don’t forget that Dixie was brought back from the dead as a ghost. She haunted Adam Chandler until she forced him to become a human being. I can see that the Powers That Be are trying. They have replaced the actresses who originally played Babe and Colby, but the casting changes haven’t helped either. If anyone out there is listening, hear this; perhaps a shakeup in the writers is what the show really needs. Try some new people along with some of the old writers. It can’t hurt. Put out an open call for breakdown writers and scriptwriters. Get some new blood on the writing team.
A major problem with All My Children is the storylines last far too long. How many years did Tad and Dixie look for Kate? Dixie died having the child, came back from the dead, found Tad and she and he looked for Kate endlessly and hopelessly. The fertility doctor who played with Dixie’s and other women’s lives was killed off and Tad and Dixie still were unable to find Kate. Finally, Dixie died one more time, and as a ghost, Dixie comes to Tad on his deathbed in a dream while he’s hospitalized from a gunshot wound during Angie and Jessie’s wedding and reveals Adam’s connection to Kate. All of this happens just as Julia, the guardian of young Kate is mortally wounded. This happened to her while she, too was at the Hubbard wedding. Thank goodness for that wedding. It was the only real excitement that Pine Valley had seen in months.
Another case of AMC running storylines for too long is Erica’s extended prisom term. Everyone knows that jail terms and any college education on soap operas take only a few weeks to complete. I have seen characters go to school and become doctors in far less time than Erica’s taking to be released from prison.

Greenlee’s back and she’s picked up right where she left off.
