- Go to Hallelujah, God is great, he loves us all and I believe.
Sunnybeach7 - Re: Gome
As I mentioned in an earlier comment, we are speaking of much the same thing when you say spirituality and I say practical enlightenment.
Regarding to the layout; Thank you - it was simply time for a change.

Gome
By spirituality, I was referring to one being in touch with their beliefs...God, The Universe, Themselves, etc.
Spirituality being what you find within yourself that guides you in life, as opposed to a formed set of beliefs that are strictly adhered to and unchanging.
I love the new layout by the way.

spinner - can you spare me the nonsensical ramblings?
The devil only exists in your mind and the minds of a comparitively small segment of the world's population. It is a concept, not a real being with consciousness or intent. What you are doing by saying such a thing is in effect threatening me, or in this case warning me against constructs of your religious mythology. Do you not understand that I consider such things to be meaningless?
You have been indoctrinated into your Christian beliefs only because of where you were born. I wasn't born there, to me you are just talking nonsense.

Re: RE: xeno -- Spinner:
The commandment is "other gods before me" - recognized other gods -- but saying that YHVH is superior.
Also, if you read a KJV, you will notice that "THOU SHALT" is italicized, meaning that it is not in the source Hebrew document. Then what does that make it?

Re: RE: xeno odd -- let me clue you into something about sons and daughers
Kooka_lives is my son.
His mother and I divorced in 1981. She moved to Colorado and married another man. My present wife has 4 children of her own by a previous husband.
My philosophy is that the better man should be in charge of the children. My own children love me as much as they love their stepfather. I am glad for their lives. My wife's children respect me much more than they do their biological father for reasons left unsaid.
I am not saying that there has never been jealousy; but there is a good relationship all around.
Jealousy is not a higher human (or godly) trait. Being zealous, however, is.
Jealousy is one of the lower passions. It does not befit God.
Still I wonder why you brought this specific example up. Usually people use an example with which they are familiar.

actually some have rendered the word, "zealous", and the passage in Exodus 20 from which it comes does cause some people to halt, about visiting children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren and such for the sins of the fathers -- a quite odd passage in the middle of the Ten Commandments, I must say.

spinner - As I have mentioned before, dialogue with you is an exercise in
accomodating your beliefs but don't expect my largess every time.
This God that our predescessors invented said nothing of the sort, simply because he does not exist. Some deluded, wine guzzling scribe made that shit up and people are still buying it today including you apparently. The conscious, paternal, all knowing and omnipotent being that you speak of is the sum total of mankind's wishful thinking and nothing more. You have to do better than suggesting that the devil is tricking me (or whatever you are saying?)

not saying that at all has noting to do with the way I see. xeno I see nothing as far as God go's execpt his creation which is all and every thing in my belief. He did not say anything about being the only God but he did say he was the alpha and the omega and I Know you are intellagent enough to know its meaning. He also said he was a jealous God. Just as a father that was worth his salt would be if another man were raising his children becouse an ex wife keeps him from them. I mearly think that you are lost in your way of thinking just as you believe I am lost in my way of thinking. You may indeed be happy but lets not forget the devil can give blessing to.

Sunnybeach7 - we are probably speaking of the same thing but I find that
the word "spirituality" is overused and quite often misunderstood.
I think more in terms of practical enlightenment. If an individual has made an attempt to overcome inherent or socially instilled prejudices for example, I feel that is far more important than many of the things touted as being important by religious folks.

Gomedome, please humor me...
Your post immediately brought to mind these words of Christ. If we could all listen to what he said. We are so busy pointing at how others beliefs are flawed we fail to see our own.
41"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? Luke 6:41 NIV

those who already "see their own light" won't accept that there is another light.
