well... its not about rankings, at least not for those of us that care about writing, its about reading others and having them read you... in a semi anonimous setting in which you minimize the pain if rejection occurs. I find it stimulates my creativity to read others... inspires me if you will... like your poems...angry and passionate, like a barrio fight, I like that energy that emanates from your words, its new and exciting, and that is what is about for me. :-)

I agree ... if it's about a popularity contest for a blogger, that's just
setting yourself up for disappointment. Of course rankings are fun ... who doesn't enjoy being in the top 10? I do, but I'm not going to step on someone, or write fake subject lines to get there. Not that there is anything wrong with that, just saying ... if anyone says they could care less about their rankings, and they are in the top five, they are full of it. Caring and being talented really can be the same thing here. Having said all that ... go away for vacation and you will be lucky to find your blog, no matter how talented you are, at the bottom of the barrel. We are only as good as our last blog... hmmm?

Your poem: It was wonderfully put together. I am constantly amazed by your art each day that you post. It seems to be getting better and better each time I read. This one in particular, strikes me as brilliant. You end on a note that is fairly poignant and very much the truth. You have a way to word things in a harsher light than I'm used to, but at the same time, the raw emotion you show is intriguing and creates in me, a genuine interest - which is why I enjoy checking your posts whenever you update. I think you don't give yourself enough credit, Pat. You're a wonderful writer, and I'm sure, somewhere deep inside that wall of depression I seem to come up against with you, you're a wonderful person. Your e-mails prove that your a funny and enjoyable soul to be around - when you want to be.
Your message: It's true that Blogit is a popularity contest considering that rankings change on a daily basis, and if rankings go down, it is a blow to the ego. But many of us come on here also to see a new horizon, meet new people, and learn new things. Of course, the numbers can be a concern, but it's all in good fun and games...isn't it? I would like to think so. But I can definitely understand what you are trying to say in your poem, about how this can be a great and awful place...since some of us can be on here for pure sinister purposes. So, your words ring true, and I think you fashioned your concerns in an incredible manner. Bravo a million times over!
