Go to Religion in the Modern World

One thing that becomes evident after being here awhile and reading some of the views of some religious folks on this site, is that they only know that which has been proliferated within their isolated religious enclaves. It is evident in more ways than just narrow minded calls to religious conformity. I've seen many instances where they speak of the world as if every person on this planet has the same choices and relative affluence that we in North America have.
"Isolation" is the key word, even though surrounded by entire communities, their worldview is that of a person living in a cave somewhere. Their religious views are even more narrow in scope. Within this isolation, the evolution of religious beliefs peculiar only to their region become unique in that reconciliation with reality is a matter of consensus and nothing more. This type of nurtured ignorance does not bode well for the future of these people.

call it provincialism
there are vast tracts of this country where slavery is missed, cutting off the right hand of thieves is wished for, public hanging should be the law of the land, Jews are evil, and Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, George Wallace and David Duke are heroes.
Not much from the outside world seems to enter there -- it's so remote and removed from the outer world. Many of our bloggers hail from there. Please excuse them. They haven't experienced much outside their own narrow backdraw gully home.
