Interestingly thinking about what you claim makes a true believer, there are a lot who claim to be who are not.  I see many believers, ever here on Blogit, who say that Satan is the reason behind everything that goes bad in life.  I also have seen way too many believers not take any responsibility at all for their actions, once more claiming Satan made them do it and then just go and ask for forgiveness to make it all better.

You have an interesting insight there that has some merit to it in regards to how believers need to present themselves differently.

Okay... I think I know what you were trying to say.

Of course I am going to defend my beliefs.  I am unsure as to why anyone would make that out as a bad thing.  If you are not able to defend why you believe as you do, then there is something wrong with your beliefs.

Do I worry about being wrong? No.  Do I look at the possibilities that I might be wrong? Yes.  I have yet to see any evidence that I am wrong, but I do look at the possibilities.  I would also be willing to bet that I am less worried about being wrong in my beliefs than most who believe in God.  I have yet to need to bend facts or science in order to back up my beliefs.

As you may well know by now, I do not share your belief of there being nothing we can rightly call God.  This story you got may well be true or not, but the drugs or not have nothing to do with realizing God or feeling the presence of the Spirit of God.  What I have found is that there are lots of believers (or perhaps more accurately, pretend to be believers) who actually make up stories as they go along that do more damage to their own position than they would like to admit.  I've even heard sermons that take some peace of the history of Israel and then start adding on their own flights of fancy in such a way that they eventually start making statements that are diametrically opposed to the teachings of Jesus, whom they loudly proclaim to be following.  Besides giving those who want to get rid of Christianity strong arguments against belief in God, they are also misleading their own congregations.  True followers of Jesus, in my opinion, take full responsibility for their own actions and the repercussions thereof and do not blame Satan for their own ill behavior.  Neither do they sit back and let God have his wonderful way.  They do give praise to God if their lives turn for the better.  The true followers of Jesus try to walk in His footsteps and live according to His teachings.  This, amongst other things, entails living for the benefit of all other human beings, even if they do not share your convictions.  A true Child of God views all humans as his/her fellow brothers and sisters (even those who do not want to be associated with them or God).  When someone says that some other person is a child of Satan or is un-Godly, whilst this other person lives a responsible, morally sound and loving life, I would strongly suggest that such a person be themselves regarded as an agent of Satan (Satan being the spirit of the Lie and the one who constantly highlights peoples faults/sins before God and society)while in this state of demeaning and accusing others, especially if forgiveness for past failures to live up to expectations are nowhere in sight in their arguments.

kooka_lives - I've gotten a few of these types of emails
Some have contained nothing more than bible passages, while others were simply hate diatribes from people of limited perspective. It is important to be careful with these people, especially pertaining to them getting ahold of your email address.
