These are spectacular!
I love, love, love the architecture, it's so ornate, so European.
I want to live there.

I love the wooden church. And, that last picture is just gorgeous. I'm glad it showed.

I've never done a lobster boil. Did a clam bake on the Oregon Coast after spending the day crabbing and having to throw them all back because they were just under the legal size.

So amazing, isn't it? Do you know anything about a privately owned
and famous boat that was sold about 15 years or so ago, to a Houston businessman? It had a name and I remember at the time the transaction was a huge deal. I have a friend in Nova Scotia who would remember the name of it ... anyway, the buyer was my Uncle. He brought it to the Port of Houston and proceeded to take a financial bath from the transaction. I'll have to ask my friend next time I talk to her. These are beautiful pictures, well done and thank you!

Lovely pics Nautikos
I have seen your comments about the place regarding Peter Carey. I've yet to read the new one but I have read several going back some years. He is a writer who takes risks I think, and they mostly pay off. We used to live in the same lush valley before he moved to NYC and I to London. He lived quietly. That is a long time ago and I started reading him then.

Naut
It all looks and sounds as charming as I remember it to be (I was 21 when I was last there and that’s a million years ago). I hope my trip works out for me… I can smell the sea air already. Oh wait, maybe that the Pacific Ocean outside my window.

Lobster boils, cod and halibut fishing, too!
Naut,
Whenever I picture places like Nova Scotia in my head, I have always seen howling storms and house-high snowdrifts. I then wondered why people choose to live there. You have eloquently shown me and told me why! Your photos are breathtaking. Your ability to frame and compose a shot for maximum effect is not something that most people can do, well. When you mentioned lobster boils on the beach, I cursed my poverty. I can only remember eating real lobster once in my life. (Does feasting one other time, on those small rock lobster tails count, too?) The rich butter dipped taste remains burned in my memory. Once when we were comparatively less financially stressed than is usual, I resolved to buy a 12 oz. package of frozen lobster I spotted in a local market, for a treat or a celebration. Then I looked at the price! $36.00 for less than one pound of lobster! My self-control kicked in, and I reluctantly put the package back in the frozen food section. If I can ever afford to travel, I would LOVE to visit your area for a lobster boil on the beach. What week is it usually warm enough to do this? I lived in Michigan's Keewanaw peninsula and know how to dress for the cold. Cod fishing or pulling in one of those huge halibut, sure sounds good to me, too. Thanks for the beautiful tour, my friend.

Nautikos
I soooo enjoyed this tour.....the views, the fresh air I could feel in my hair and on my cheeks.....I was squinting in the sun looking out over the water at some of the ships and feeling the cool fresh mist hitting me in the face on others.....cool, green, fresh....I felt my energy building as I moved through the photos....but at the same time, I was so relaxed.....almost like a little mini-vacation.....thanks! I needed to visit someplace so charming and refreshing
