- Go to The problem with the word "theory"
Hey, Evolution Boy...
In common usage, the word
theory is often used to signify a
conjecture, an
opinion, a
speculation, or a
hypothesis. In this usage, a theory is not necessarily based on
facts; in other words, it is not required to be consistent with
true descriptions of
reality. This usage of theory leads to the common incorrect statements. True descriptions of reality are more reflectively
understood as statements which would be true independently of what people think about them.

Thank you, Gome...
I have been very involved with other things. I've had a bot keeping an eye on your postings. This one needed a high-five.

Yes... so intelligent...
it must be the reason we have so many different species of beetles. Who else will eat up all the carcasses of toasted sinners after the rapture?

I'm careful to use the word theory correctly as there is a
powerful difference between a substantiated position vs a best guess
Everyday though, I do see where there are a lot of us who don't know there are two ways to use the word
I can see where this is damaging...
We have come so far as a species yet still have a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng way to go...
