is to follow Winged around and see who she is hanging with and then read at least one blog from each of her friends. Before you know it you will have many hits on your work and tons of new friends. Kind regards

I think the most important thing is to introduce yourself to others
by commenting yourself. Drop in, say hi, and they will feel more
like visiting your blogs.

It certainly is nice to have positive feedback for your writing, especially if you are just starting out, but sometimes it can be destructive. Right now, I am beginning to realize that none of the stories I have written (and there are a lot) are as great as people have told me they are. I could do 2 things with this insight: one, flush it down the toilet and keep writing as I always have been, or two, try to improve.
Also, if you are nervous about being influenced by reading a lot, it all depends on who you are. I can honestly say that each person has his or her own unique style of writing, and that no matter how much we read, it remains our own. I won't tell you what to do, but reading would be a great way to meet more people and get more feedback (Positive or negative), and you would also likely improve your own writing (no matter how great it is, it can always be improved).
