I listen to most everything, except opera and rap. And music inspires me.
Guitar instrumentals like Peter White, Craig Chaquico, Mark Antoine, Joe Satriani, and Yngwie Malmsteen are my favorites. Joseph Spotted Eagle and David Arkenstone are awesome as well (new age). Then there's the Celtic instrumentals. It's like folk hard rock or something -- fast and clean, hard and driven, with pipes and flutes and fiddles. And classical -- Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms. But when I listen to music for inspiration with lyrics, it's metal of all kinds -- progressive, alternative, classic, power, hair, death, sludge, and speed. I steer clear, however, of those guys that sound like they're shouting/growling into the mic and are complete noise. My boys like that crap. I like the music; they can silence the vocalist.

Yes, for sure...
music is always part of my writing. I'm currently listening to Madonna-Hard Candy. Her beats are awesome and lyrics are really inspiring me right now. Her song Give it 2 me, goes:
