Re: hmmmm .... issues that don't effect us all ....

Thanks for your comment.  I would say that  some of the things you mentioned do effect us all, abortion - if a women gets pregnant it does effect the man involved too, social security, medicaid and mediacare are taken out of every working american's taxes, prison reform effects the crime rate and liklihood that you or I may become a victim, so these are all good issues to look at.  But whether it effects you directly or not, I guess the point is don't vote for a person based soley on one issue, whatever it is.  Take ther person as a whole, and see whose beliefs are most common with your own.  That's what I hope people will do.

I give credit where credit is due.  I'm not so much worried about gays or people who believe in gay marriage voting soley based on that issue.  I'm more worried about zealots, looking to deny gay rights voting soley based on that issue.  I believe that was a big reason Bush slid back into the white house in 04, and I don't want to see McCain voted in the same way.

hmmmm .... issues that don't effect us all ....
"I just hope voters are smarter this time around and don't vote for someone solely based on an issue that doesn't effect us all.

Which time around did voters elect someone based solely on an issue that doesn't effect us all?  I would say every time around.  Abortion rights, women's rights, black rights, immigration, social security, medicare, prayer in school, prison reform - many of these don't effect us all, not even social security or the fu**ked up medicare system if you are a young voter - you don't see either as viable in the future anyway.  I'm not for or against gay marriage, but I have friends who are gay and who are for it, but would never vote for someone based solely on the candidates view of this issue - give them more credit than that, please.  They realize there are much bigger issues at stake.  Good post!

I agree
There are bigger issues. My brother is gay so I do feel for their cause and agree that they should have more rights.

Right and we living outside US also feel directly about a presidential candidate in terms of his policy on war rather than gay marraiges.
