Re: cantey_1975 - Re: yep
You could never be expected to take then seriously, except for what they say to you face value. Of course, in some ways I myself share this persons beliefs, so hypothetically if you and I were to meet face to face, or any two people with such differing views were to meet, hopefully they, or we, could connect on the basis of mutual human intelligence and respect predicated on the suspension of religious beliefs.

cantey_1975 - Re: yep

I have to be careful, I think one of the persons possibly depicted in this post might still be around this site. But yep, the one back in 2005 was a doozy. That was the guy that told me God shrunk the dinosaurs so that Noah could fit them on the Ark. The size of dinky toys I tell you, little friendly temporarily non-carnivorous creatures, that contently nibbled on a bit of hay until the voyage was over, then "Poof"  . . . they were 40 foot tall again. Noah and his family must have run for their lives.

How am I supposed to treat someone like this seriously?

yep

that one was a doozie. Remember it well.

Not really sure what doozie means.

Actually, if you look up "doozie" in the dictionary, a referance to this incident comes up.

Troosha - Re: But it's sure a good ranking technique!

Yes it sure can be a good ranking technique and I must admit taking advantage of a few conflicts for just that purpose. Especially when the antagonist is insufferable, in those cases I have no qualm beating them like a rented mule as I ride their attacks up the blog rankings. Once in the past, I had a person that went on a campaign to have me censured drive this blog up to number one overall briefly. How can we not laugh at that?

I also have to agree that we read some "pretty strange crap" around here, some of it can only be described as delusional craziness, while some of it is petty drama of the highest order.

But it's sure a good ranking technique!
If that's your thing.  I'm usually oblivious to most of the wars (although as you may recall I was the brunt of someone's attack a while ago).  Quite frankly, I don't understand the entire "drama" nuance of this site, never mind the wars.  Sometimes I sit back and scratch my head and think "Isn't this a writing site?"  Sure.. there's a social element and it's healthy to have some engaging dialog but  some days I roam around and read some pretty strange crap in here.

Pat_B - that's a good thing - providing a few chuckles was what I intended
Even funnier is that I wrote this post before my antagonist posted something that can only be described as following the progression I chronicle here letter for letter. I'm not psychic, it's just that it always plays out the same way. In this case my insulting words were used completely out of context and with absolutely no mention of the insults that prompted them (amnesia). Then for dramatic effect, a psychological profile of someone with serious social issues and a warning to avoid people like that was worked into the post. All I can say is that some people are completely blind to their own words and actions. Lying through their teeth doesn't seem to bother these "seekers of truth" either . . . too friggin funny.

I can't help it. I laughed at this. After getting scratched in a couple of
little cat fights myself, I finally learned to religious disputes alone. Nobody wins in a war about whose invisible friend is the most omniscient. Thanks for the grins!

well that was interesting reading.

sam444 - I don't get it either, especially the common pattern that too many

people follow afterwards.

Where I come from; hurling rocks at people is a pastime best done while wearing a helmet, because if a person does not expect to receive a few thrown back at them they are simply being naive. But that is the way some people are.

FineYoungSinger - he was very entertaining while he was here on Blogit
It was one of those cases where after reading one or two of his postings, I couldn't think of anything to say in comment to him. I don't think I ever commented on his posts but he sure made his presence and opinions known on my posts. The comment exchange I took these excerpts from is: HERE

I can not understand why a person is attacked. Go to rebuttal mode and answer what might irritate. I do like the fact they start it and then end up wincing in their own tears of confusion. sam

I mean, after all, its SOOOOOOOOO obvious that the commenter is well-balanced, calm, level-headed, intelligent......Ok, I have to stop now.  I'm laughing too hard to type.........

If I were you, I'd answer that last question,
"Because it tickles me."  seems appropriate.

Sunnybeach7 - the reasoning you describe we've seen on Blogit

For quite awhile I had one of these types of people harrassing me. His motivations for doing so, according to him were that I represented evil while he represented good. In his twisted little mind, all of his attrocious behavior was justified because he was simply fighting a battle of good versus evil with him of course on the side of good. Even when he began lying to others in attempts to villify me there was nothing wrong with him doing so in his mind because he felt he was serving a greater good. That's the scary part with these people, their ability to so easily justify the most attrocious of behavior through circular logic.

What's even scarier is when you present them with a chronicle of their own misdeeds, irrefutable in black and white, and they don't see themselves as the person being described.

I don't think they understand that for the reasoning is that they believe "good" as well as numbers are on their side.
They are not afraid because their thinking is that they are 100 to 1 ...and in many ways, they are.

The greatest part is that not only is the bogeyman alive and well...but the fact that he will devour their enemies for their implied "wrong doings", while these people view their own shortcomings as a natural act of a higher power...oh, and for the good of humanity and society as well. lol.

Sunnybeach7 - I find that experiences such as the one you relate make me

worry about humanity.

These people still believe in the bogeyman, how is that possible in the year 2008? Not to mention how common it seems to be for so many people to exhibit such self centered childlike behavior. Don't these people understand that if they begin throwing rocks at people, they should be prepared to have a few thrown back at them?

Exactly! Like it's the only natural progression ... and for "them" , it is

vickip - it's especially pathetic when they begin utilizing misquotes and

intentionally taking things out of context.

There does come a time when as you say; the novelty wears off and it becomes simply annoying. And the really sad part is that in most cases, if anyone where to act that way towards them, they would not miss the opportunity to play the victim.

I recall...many times. Very entertaining indeed.

Of course, I've had my own experiences. Perhaps the greatest being on an online gaming site, where I had "neglected" to see the chat of someone "whispering" to me a few times to "Stop".

By the time I had seen their messages, and before I got to reply, another one came in quite quickly saying "You such and such, and such and such!"

I then simply replied with "problem?"

After that, they spewed out more obscenities, along with a "Burn in hell!" ...to which I replied that I don't believe in hell.

Then they said "Well, the devil is still gonna get ya!" to which I then had to reply that I don't believe in Satan. (I figured it was beyond the point of trying to explain to this person that I don't believe in hell/don't believe in the devil...they wouldn't see the connection)

Then he told me "He will still ......!" (He said something very vulgar and sexually explicit which I'm not gonna repeat here.)

After I told him once again that I don't believe in Satan he stopped replying.
I got the satisfaction of knowing that he knew he couldn't win.

I find it infuriating at first ... then funny ... and then the novelty
wears off ... and then pathetic.

I find the reality that it is always the same pattern scary. It's juvenile in the extreme but sometimes incredibly funny as well.

and then I have to add ... this cracked me up ....

- forgetting to mention that they got their ass wupped.

I completely understand ... so much so that it's scary ....

-It starts with an unsolicited insult because someone does not like what they have read in this blog. When I make a point of returning that insult, they act as if they are the wounded party, ignore the fact that they initiated the conflict and then begin the next series of steps in the progression.

-Next, they begin pleading innocence, as they hurl a number of additional insults. Which of course I am happy to reciprocate, which in turn winds them up further.

-Then the real kicker; I am accused of all of the attrocious and childish behavior that the protagonist is now exhibiting.

-Amnesia develops at this point: having failed to make me see the "light", it is now time to garner the sympathies of others by telling a few lies of omission . . . conveniently leaving out the part that they started the conflict
