Soldiering is a profession you have to grit your teeth and do. Death can occur on both ends of the gun! He survived! Thats the good part!

Just as we wigopa, are proud to have you amongst us here at Blogit, in the like manner your grandma must have been of course, to a greater extent, proud of her husband's exploits at WW II. Oh, how I dreamt all my life that I could have been a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force! Had it not been for an accident during training in which my elder brother died of an air accident, I would have been what I wanted to become. I had just then been selected for the Air Force when we gat the news of my brother's sad demise ... and my mother never let me.
Another thing I wanted to tell you is that the comments you make in my blog are an absolute delight ... the way you break things up and analyze. It's wonderful to have you as a most dear friend, and I can see your brilliance shine
which I express with my "Kudos!"
