On balance, I have absolutely no doubts about it......life is not simpler, life is not better..... society is not better, society is not simpler......everything is more complicated, there are more problems.  I think technology has added, not eliminated complications overall.  Housework is not even actually easier than it was 30 years ago.....several women and I were discussing this at work a couple of days ago....women today don't know any better so they think all the gadgets they have are making life easier, but they aren't.  Employers think that because of technology they can get by with fewer people...and it still takes people to service people properly....that's the bottom line.....but, in a few years most of the public won't remember what good service was like so it won't matter.

All good questions, Lustor
I think we do live in a world where we are less engaged with each other.  We think an email is staying in touch, for example, whereas we used to think getting together with someone for lunch or a cup of coffee was a way of connecting with a friend.  I think I prefer the latter.

I've noticed as so many other older people have that everyone wants instant gratification these days and they tear themselves apart and take on terrible and greedy debt to have it all. Myself I am through with all that. I want to watch my squirrels and try to grow somew garden and let the world fight it out without me.

Love and companionship with the dear friends here means way more than any cash I may get back.

Immedate gratification

Easier is a matter of perspective, lustorlove. We have made life more
convenient in many of its aspects.  We have made it more immediate.  We have made life more trivial.  But easier?  With every innovation and breakthrough came its entourage of ills.  Easier is a doubtful argument...

You never know...with the economy so bad we might just have to
go back to those simpler times.  Can you imagine?  Could we even survive?  Heck, we might as well forget about blogging anymore.
