Naut, you don't really have to do much to the pieces you have written
to make them worth listing. Also, if you present them here, and Blogit opens the listings to the general public, then if you want to sell elsewhere, you will be able to do your rewrites then, and still offer 'first rights.' In the meantime, you get some feedback from your 'public' on the pieces.

TAPS, I understand about those things-- I'm sometimes just too tired
to write either in response or to post a piece, much as I value the connections I have here with folks, and enjoy reading them. You are often in my mind when I am taking pictures! I'm so glad you enjoy them!

'Interesting post' (sorry, couldn't resist, LOL)! Seriously though, I see your point. And thanks for mentioning my own stuff! I had actually never thought much about putting up anything for sale, partly because I feel that my stuff needs a lot of thought (and hence work) to be 'publishable'. And I don't really have the time for that! But your thoughts here are certainly an encouragement...

Ciel, What an interesting post this is. You are right, I have not given this part of Blogit a second thought. I haven't even been spending the time here that I used to (as you can tell by how seldom I seem to even get around to see you any more). I just can't seem to sit in front of the computer for long periods any more and I am not a speed reader or writer. I seem to get slower and slower. But, I still love it here and I still love your posts and your photos.

Re: Ciel
We all know who the 'nice post' and the 'interesting' folks are... And do we read them?
When I click on something that doesn't catch my interest, or is really poorly presented, I don't read it through, but neither do I leave a comment. even a lame one.
I would be likely to check out something you listed, because I know you a) can express yourself, and b) have interesting points to make.
And of course, when someone has bought my stuff, I make a particular effort to look at theirs. If they have anything listed.

Re:
Sam, I think in regards to Blogit promoting quality writing, that the listing of items for sale is a step in that direction.
Any site like this soon becomes a great social rather than artistic event, and then there is not much true critique going on, though there is a great deal of encouragement and generosity and sharing. The problem is that the site becomes about that, and the quality of writing is less and less an issue.
But when we list something to sell, we have an opportunity for folks to put their money where their mouths have been, and this really does, or at least it could reflect a feedback about quality and saleability of a piece.
Nothing stops us from making quality recommendations in our own blogs, too. Several blogiteers have done that--I did that back when I was paying for 5 blogs.

I never gave much thought to the "selling feature" now available but you make a good argument for using it. However I, too, have noticed that some people post an offering and their brief description is full of typos or grammatical errors. Helloooo

And as far as commenting goes the only time I'm annoyed by a thoughtless comment is usually in someone else's blog when they, for example, have written a hearth rendering story of a love lost or they are mourning the death of a loved one and someone writes "nice post". Firstly that's a dead give-away that they've not read the contents of the post and secondly it's disrespectful to someone who has just poured their heart out. But que sera sera....

I read many blogs and work diligently to offer a fair comment. The ranking is something I wish we could opt out of. It is not reflective of anything for me. I agree there are some excellent writers here. Kaboom is writing a fantastic book, Bhaskar's essays are out of this world. Blogit said they promote excellent writing but I have not witnessed any of this. I am familiar with a lot of work on this blog and they should be asking us for our recommendations. Grand article. Perhaps it should be emailed to them. sam
