I can relate to this, tho I'm in my 60's and my mom's long time dead. I think it's one of those phenomenae that starts happening in my teenage years. She had a big thing about cleaning and rearranging my bedroom--especially when I would come back home for the summer from college. (Now, I could resist all I want, but she's going to do what wants, anyway). So, one day I come back home, my bedroom is spanking clean--again! And I'm looking at my bookcase where I had the books arranged by their subjects, so I knew where every book was. So, I'm looking at my (very personal) bookcase, and nothing is where it's supposed to be.
"What did you do with all my books?"
"Oh, I just organized them by size."
Always take a deep breath, but never argue with your mom. This piece opens up a lot of memories for me and the quirky relationship between mother and son.
