vickip - time of day for posting is important and the prime time changes
Somewhere within a narrow band that envelopes the time zones of the North American continent lies a "prime posting time" . . . it is however a moving target and has changed now and again with site dynamics (such as in influx of international members). During this time period and time of year, it seems that the traditional prime time of late afternoon and early evening is best. But two of my most read blogs of the past few weeks were posted around midnight (EST) . . . so who really knows?

gnomedome ... I had to laugh at this ...
"Some of what I read here seems as if it is written by mental patients. Then if that is not enough to keep one on the sidelines, a great deal of the comments they receive agree with them." oh... I just saw my name on the sidebar - I have arrived! lol I acutally think the time of day you post your blog has a lot to do with how much they are read and responded to. I have to go back at least 8 hours when I get home from work to see what I've missed during the day ... posts I'm sure are missed at night. Make sense? I love a good debate too, but I don't really see controversial posts like we saw even a couple of years ago. You wanna go at it with me? lol I am most guilty of being a dumb-ass when it comes to category - no idea half the time where it belongs and I paid little attention when I signed up. So .... that's all I have for now ...

ZenMom - I think that anyone saying they completely disregard blog rankings
. . . is kidding themselves.
I care about blog rankings to the extent that higher rankings mean increased visibility and no one likes having their writing efforts totally ignored. Interaction, opinions, feedback and dialogue give this type of online publishing its appeal, without these things blogging is much less appealing. As for giving rankings more thought than that, you are correct in assuming that I don't much care.
I know what you mean about following others out the door if they were to leave; some days the comments and interactions with like minded people are the only things keeping me here. We can only read so much of the same old viewpoints and perspectives of those with whom we will never agree. It inevitably will make a person with an individualistic viewpoint feel like an outsider. And an outsider to what? Some of what I read here seems as if it is written by mental patients. Then if that is not enough to keep one on the sidelines, a great deal of the comments they receive agree with them.

Didn't think you were the type to give a 2nd thought to ranking here on blogit. But, you are right......things are changing around here and I can't figure out why. But, here's what I've decided.......as soon as bloggers such as yourself, Kooka....Xeno "jump ship", I'm right behind you.
