FineYoungSinger - if I ever ended up single again, I'd be totally lost
I can't imagine what people of middle age go through in their efforts to find companionship. My experiences with the internet in general have left me with the feeling that a great deal of cyberspace is a cesspool of deception. I can only imagine what takes place on dating sites.

Ariala - I'm still having trouble describing what is wrong with it
But something is wrong with it.

Ok, so I've just come back from the article.

how funny that my initial reaction was "WOW" and I read this in the article: "Four people from four separate denominations had similar reactions, ranging from "wow" to initial silence as they wrapped their heads around it."  So I guess it's a common reaction.

That being said, once I finished the article, I got to thinking about the people that I know that are trying to find someone using a "Christian" dating site (not Big Church--I'd have remembered that name---kind of phallic, come to think of it---anyway I digress, as usual).  Two male co-workers say it never ceases to amaze them how many married women are on there looking for either an extra-marital affair or a replacement for their current husband.  Three female friends (49, 53 & 55 yrs of age) can only find men looking for 25-year-old bimbos.  All of them are decent people and are totally disallusioned by the process.  I met a few couples last year on a retreat that met using online services, but they all said they had to weed through hundreds of people before finally meeting someone worth pursuing, even on e-Harmony, the article's poster child.

So I guess ultimately, does it really matter who owns these sites, since the users are pretty much the same across the board no matter what they call themselves?  All I know is thank God I'm happily married, I'd never go this route if I were still single.

Oh brother...that's worse than finding out a Jewish group owned a local
Christian radio station.
