I've been thinking about you

ever since I heard the news of the earthquake. I haven't had much time to catch up on reading, but you and your family were in my thoughts quite regularly--boy, was I relieved to see a recent post, and know that you're okay!

As for the addition to your family, I think it's awesome that you're welcoming FIL into your home. The strong family values is one that I've always really admired about your culture, and something that I wish more North Americans would adopt!

You have taken on a big load. I know what caring for a diabetes sufferer is like, i had my mom with me for several years and even though I had a nurse, the last five years I had her in a residence where she was cared for absolutley brilliant. When it comes to the stage where everything, washing, changing nappies, feeding, dressing, has to be done for them, a single person like myself who also had to work couldn't cope anymore.

KaBooM, Everything will not be easy, but it is a part of life.  I have been through that sandwich generation sometime back and I have always hoped that I would not have to put myself upon my sons to be cared for by them.  But one never knows what life will bring and we lovingly make the best of it.

KaBoom62

You are a courageous and loving lady and your FIL and husband are very lucky to have you. That is a wonderful culture. I am happy I have Kabu now, because I am not close to my children, haven't seen them for 22 years and my daughters said many times~just kidding they said~ "don't come and live with us dad, well maybe for a week-edm."

Strange, they gave me warning but I never asked them. Good luck with family luv
