I know it shouldn't be used as a form of birth control.

I think we each have to make our own choices, and that the results, effects

and consequences are between the woman and God, and the rest of us should stay the heck out of the relationships between anyone and God.

Anyone who believes 'Life is always a beautiful choice" must have missed the photos that came out of a certain apartment in Chicago a few years ago where authorities found children of all ages from nearly newborn to several years old living in their own feces, without food, hygiene, without any care at all from their drug addict parents.  Life is aggressive, it happens so easily, so carelessly--but quality of life is more rare and more meaningful.

I totally agree that it is the worst possible form of birth control, but what was happening in that apartment is, to my mind and heart, a far greater atrocity both physically and spiritually.

I wrote a post similar to this once....longer, of course, since I can't ever be short and concise!!  I know there are rapes and incest and dire medical situations....but those are the exceptions.....statistically, most abortions are not those situations....in fact, at one point they were by married women!....I don't know the majority group now and am not going to go research it.  I have no doubt in my heart that morally it is wrong....abortion is killing what will be...regardless of what "it" is called by law or medicine or the Bible at any particular moment along the way....that's my opinion.  That said, I don't believe any woman should be legislated into motherhood.....I think there needs to be an end to the total B.S. that the "choice" in the issue of unwanted pregnancy is whether to have an abortion or not....it's whether to use birth control or not....that's the first choice, the true choice in the matter that needs to be talked about and not glossed over.

Offy you raise an interesting view on this inflamitary subject.
I actually think rather like you that I don't know. It's sort of easy to be hypothetical and say not for me but if the circumstances were such that I felt there was no choice (for me) then maybe I would have. Who knows. It's sad though. But a great post to get a person thinking

Touchy Subject
As a person who really doesn't believe in such an act...I would have to say that once in a great while my opinion on the matter does go back and forth. I was raise not to do it and therefore live with the consequences of having a child. I do have a strong opinion about it but way back and forth on the situation. There are many couples out there which are unable to have children. If someone doesn't want to have a child, they should put that child up for adoption. Am I making any sense here?

I simply have to say I have changed my opinion on this more than once. First I believe now that God places a cell in a womb for that particular person and has a plan for them. It appears terrible that sometimes the road is so rough, but he chose that person and time. I felt differently before I knew it was not an 'it' but a living being. I do not condemn those who have, that is between them and God. I do believe it is murder as sure as if it were full term. But that is my opinion based on my faith. It is a sacrificial killing of something unwanted for some reason. God bless all who have felt the need for this.

There's no way I would have one
but I think the government is controlling way tooo much of our so called freedoms. I believe abortion used as a form of birth control is wrong...........but do not think the government should have a say....adoption is a better way, but there are certain circumstances and I do not judge anyone for the decision they make.

I can relate, Sally..a very charged issue, especially for women, all women
And I agree with the comments. An abortion for strictly convenience reasoning is morally wrong, imo..does that mean it should be illegal? A big part of me answers with a resounding Yes! because the life that has been created, no matter how tiny, unfinished, etc. is also entitled to rights; the right to live..a real human being, capable of surviving independent of the mother's womb, is the completion of the cycle, if left undisturbed..this is not forcing parenthood on anyone, there is adoption. My view.
Good post, very thought provoking. Thank you.

What do you feel about pregnancy as result of rape or abortion in the certain knowledge that the baby will be severely disabled or the mother might die giving birth? These are the three cases that I am in favor of abortion, anything else has other solutions.

For me personally, I believe that abortion breaks the commandment "Thou shalt not kill."  But I realise many women feel differently and it isn't my right to judge them.
