I agree totally TAPS

I find it more curiosity value the few times I have been to something like this. As for taking their advice seriously - some of it is common sense and it is better to have a good friend as a sounding board or analyse and reflect yourself on the facts and the situation then make up your own mind.

I get curious though, but I am also aware that there is a G-d who controls everything and that is why I don't want to spend money on something like this, but by the same token I would go to the grave of a famous rabbi or Rebbe as we call them. I believe in the power of prayers and I do believe that there are more spiritual and righteous people than myself who are guides given to us by G-d if we choose to see it or listen to them.

It depends on where you are at.

Norwood, I cannot think of any circumstances that could come into my life that would send me to one of those you mention for advice.

Actually what you say Dark Moon makes sense but also by

the same token there are very few really good ones. There are also a lot of fakes who try to take advantage of another person's sorrows and vulnerability.

There are some very great Mystic Kabbalists who do not ask any money but they are sustained by donations from people. They usually having healing powers in the spiritual, psychological and physical sense. However they are few and far between. G-d gives the power to heal to a few very righteous individuals because there are those who would take advantage of it and use it as a profit making venture.

There is a difference and if you are a very spiritual person you are aware that G-d has a purpose for you and will give you the means to sustain yourself and help others.

There is no one who does anything of his own. Everyone's abilities, talents, energy, etc. comes from God. If you don't believe me, try these experiments. Stop breathing through some life-ending event, trauma, illness, old age. Now will yourself to breathe. You cannot will yourself to breathe even one breath. God keeps you alive. Alternate experiment. Your heart has stopped for any of the foregoing reasons. Will your heart to beat even one time. Can't be done. It is God whose power animates us giving us life, causing our lungs to breathe, our hearts to beat. It is God who gives the artist, the poet, the exectutive, the athlete, the doctor, the plumber, everyone the ability to do anything that they do. Yet we all claim the credit for ourselves. We don't do it. He does it. Everything we have is a gift from Him. We think that we should be paid for our talents but, that the psychic, medium, prophet should not be paid for his or hers. How are they supposed to stay alive? You don't think it is right for you not to be paid, to have to give for free whatever it is that you do for a living but, you want others to give theirs away for free. That said, most of them are not really very good. There are very few who are really good.

I am always wary of people asking for money to give someone a reading.
It seems that if someone has a heartfelt idea about something that they feel comes from a mystical or divine place, they should share that without trying to make a profit of it.

Jesse sure!
That is one of the reasons I put it up to open debate on it. I think it is interesting and many people have different view points on it which is fascinating. I guess what you want to do is to use my post to present your opinion? Why not? OK!!
