I don't mind that much, either, FMT.
In fact, I'm in the throes of quitting. I just hae a problem with the government mandating it, for a variety of reasons.

Strat - we've had the ban in Tennessee since October. I don't miss
smoking at Applebees. We call a "meeting" and all step outside to light up. Some nights we go across the street to a bar bar where smoking inside is allowed. I wind up chain smoking and feeling like hell the next day. I love your analysis of why we go to bars...so true.

Amen!
Ultimately, I believe a smoking ban is a bad idea, more for philosophical reasons than anything else. Unless elected officials are willing to grow the cajones to declare tobacco illegal, which would also require them to say “no” to billions in soft money from Big Tobacco

It's a battle, Kabu!
I've been back and forth with it for a long time -- down to a pack about every two weeks, and only with my wine.

There's no question it's obnoxious, Sam.
I just have a problem with government involvement.

Now the summer is here & I can smoke outside without freezing some part of
my anatomy off that I'm fond of, I'm having a difficult struggle with the non smoking. I've beaten the addiction but only just and I won't surcumb to temptation. Not because I'm brave and strong though. The bloody mosquitoes have arrived and they want to suck my Aussie blood dry. I'm hysterical about a Mosquito, but they will probably save my life.

You are so entertaining! I am asthmatic and cigarette smoke can induce an attack for me and I would dislike keeling over before finishing a succulent meal. Also, it just stinks.  sam
