Norwood
Conversations with my mother, more often than not, are sprinkled with unsolicited advice and it drives me crazy.  Should I choose to share with her a decision I’ve made she’ll inevitably dive in and tell me how I should go about it or worse yet – how my decision is a poor one.  I’m 53 and I think to myself “I wasn’t calling for your advice.  I was simply calling to say hello and let you know how things are going in my life”.  Mothers and daughters…  I don’t care what people say I think it’s a love/hate relationship.   Good luck with the job search....!

Norwood .... I'm sorry, but I am laughing and almost crying
at the same time!  Your mom sounds, in a way, like my mom - the difficulty hearing mostly.  She would never discourage me or put me down - that was my exes job (mostly behind my back), when I couldn't find employment.  I used to think I was sabotaged too, now I think it's our ages.  I lost my job at 48 and it took a friend in the business to get me another after almost two years of looking.  Of course I lived in a college town where the position I was experience in was being taken by inexperienced "cuties" paying their way through college.  I, like you, sent out resumes all the time - I then lowered my standards and was told I was over-qualified.  It can be so discouraging, but it will happen for you.  I will keep my fingers crossed for you and follow your progress.  Put your son up a tree indeed LOL.  You're too funny and I totally disagree with your mum, you are a fantastic writer!
