only need that one word "FREEDOM" don't we.  Not sure the government really knows what it means for anyone other than the elite!

There is little doubt, Glennb, that this can be argued from both sides --
from the oppression of state-run commerce to the oppression of capitalist-driven consumerism and enslavement through the money cycle...

Saul Relative,
This so-called "private sector" has mutated and is a bigger threat than if it were not! The "without" in the quote is misleading!

Hey, jaz. Sorry to hear about that. Welcome back...

I don't think so, Corbin. Kennon worked in world affairs for the CIA for
thirty years.  He sees democracy on the wane and a victim of its own success...

I think, Naut, that Kennon is pushing for capitalism as the light of a
truly free society.  Money and prosperity buys freedom, as it were.  But I agree with him that all these things can exist without freedom.  Perhaps not in the manner in which we might gauge it, but to each society their own guideposts of justice and prosperity.

I agree, TAPS.

Maybe that's because "The private sector is motivated by profit and efficiency and the US government often is not."  (Eric Anderson)

Saul
Saul, I would like to point out to Kenon that without freedom there can be no private sector, no justice, and in the end no prosperity either, as history amply demonstrates...
