Re:
I've been having endless arguments with people from both these angles and have always hoped that their would be a commen ground to be found somewhere. If ignorance and an unwillingness to empathyse is the only commen ground we really have a difficult situation and only time and example can bring understanding were mere words fail. Thanks for stopping by.

Stimulating writing Bhaskar. A rose remains a rose no matter from which angle we look at it.

Re: Beliefs
These are indeed difficult times to come to a stable view regarding belief. There are so many different angles of approach and many dialogues between people who differ and are trying to come to mutual understanding. I too believe in God and although I will never claim to be God as such I'm convinced that neither you or me or anybody or anything exists outside of my God either.

Theists believe without knowing, athiests too believe without trying to find out, and thus they too do not know. There is the third kind, agnostics, who say "I don't know, but I must find out". For me, only the agnostics have a possibility to be real theists. A good write.
I read your earlier post on mandala, then went to Ariala and this is what I wrote on her blog: "I was drawn to your blog on mandala through your comments to AardigeAfrikaner. The concept is simply very deep. A Sanskrit word, it means the "whole", "Completion", "Circle". You'll be surprised to learn that in the Rig Veda there is a mention of certain constellation of all the stars and planetary system, called mandala, that could have exested only 95,000 years ago, so the age of this Veda (or knowledge, and the other word rk, written as Rig, means Truth) is calculated to be at least 95000 yrs old. Now, with the help of computers astronomers have found the exact arrangement, to be true. Symbolically, by mandala is meant a microcosm of the universe seen from human perspective. Sigmund Freud differed, and Carl Gustave Jung, his student, believed that mandala was a representation of the unconscious self. In his paintings of emotional disorders and wholeness in personality. Jung used mandalas that identified mental disorders from those of the healthy. More recently, as you say, it finds application in Quantum Mechanics as well. Isn't it amazing!

Beliefs
Beliefs can be something else now-a-days. Many things in our lives cause these beliefs
and it's hard to change one's mind. The only thing I'm sure that I believe, as Jerry Clark
says is, "There is a God, and I'm not Him.
