I am one of those people who thought that prejudice and racism was still

so strong in America that this running of a black man and a woman would end up in a white man being president (because even though there are black Republicans, they are so few as to be nearly nonexistent.  Notice that the few black Republicans you know are either military, ex-military, or on your television).  But now I'm beginning to actually have hope that this nation may be past, for the majority, that unfortunate brand of ignorant myopia.  At times I still doubt, especially when I see attack ads like those being used in North Carolina and the unfortunate use of the Jeremiah Wright sound bites to hurt Obama.  I'm hoping the voters can see beyond that crap but I don't hold out much hope.  People want to be led and don't want to think for themselves.  It's the path of least resistance. Ignorance is easy.  Attempting to get beyond it is work.  People are simply too willing to believe the worst in a person.  That's why political hits and mudslinging work so well...

That's okay, though, aquarius, you and I can hope together.
