I can see it before me... Very dramatically, told in a no nonsense way...
But it's true poetry!

Very sad.
I always think it's best not to try and rekindle an old love, but to keep it tucked away safely, where we keep the memories that make up our lives...

All we can do is hope that in losing one we make room ...
... for the right one.  Thirty years is no easy hurdle to get over, however.

Vicki
I believe that most of us who have lived a bit 'can' relate to trying to rekindle a love...and it just cannot be found. Thank you for your comment and always a pleasure having you come by

Time heals all wounds ... and in the process seems to use
a very potent numbing agent.  This is great and I'm sure most of us can relate to it.

What a remarkable piece!  Sometimes we just can't turn back the hands of time (as much as we try or want to).  You described this reunion with a love who once as so perfectly.

Sounds like...
...trying to recapture something that was lost with a High School sweetheart. Hard to do. Nice try.
