I wish to thank patmanplus for being a co-respondent on this post! I like him. He reminds me of me when I was younger. He does express himself in unusual ways but he means no harm. I apologize if anyone was offended. His heart is in the right place (if anyone paused to notice), and I hope his dis-illusionment is a sign of what is happening to our younger people who happen on truths that lies cannot cover up! Thanks Patmanplus!

Ya see, there are optimist's (who can be totally out of touch with reality) and there are pessimist's (who can be totally out of touch with reality) and there are realist's, who are totally in touch with reality, and always suffer more for telling the truth. Why would anyone listen to anything they didn't want to hear? Tell the people what they want to hear, (lie).

iow, the 1st lawyer to speak always sounds correct

TAPS: very good comment, but then there's that line in Proverbs "the first man to speak, always sounds correct. Going back years, i remember in Bible colege being told this related to a court setting ie Lawyers-you know how clever they can be. SB1's rebuttal was imo correct. We grow up knowing that commercials lie and yet we end up believing them. Brainwashing does exist and it does work (better on the febble minded) just not that much, not in any dramatic fashion like in the zombie like movies; but it's repeated OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!. And it gets the job done.

Elyse, yes too simple, not being sarcastic just literal. Keep smiling, it's a good thing, oops, i meant to say, it can be a good thing.

cpklapper...that was offensive. Vince Lombardi was talking about football; what are you talking about?

i just read your last 3 posts and they're very depressing. That's because you tell the truth. i believe this is a culture (world?) in decline. i coined the phrase GREEDHEAD also THE MONEY SUCKERS, but noone listens to me. i remember you saying how GMO'S were banned in Europe and soon would be here; it seemed too good to be true; and ALL the other stinking man-made (Greehead) toxins need to be banned but won't be...It's weird, i was just thinking today about possible worldwide food shortages and GMO'S steeping in to save the day, and then you mentioned it...geez depressing. Perhaps you are more depressing than me. but then, that's debatable.

Re: Elyse
Thank you Dave for taking the time to 'clarify' your intentions...wow, you got a lot of discussion on this one ~ (I bless God) and I'm off for a bit - gardening after a long day of 'helping' those in need.  Ah!  I find Gardening, and often under God's beautiful light --- the most positive form of meditation ~ a necessary time to re-energize and breathe in more from God's own heart.  Thank you for your answers, my friend.  Write ON!!! ~Elyse *you really have a lot to say --- and I'm glad to read your blogs

This entry has sure sparked a discussion. Interesting comments, nearly as interesting as the piece itself.

Re: Re: Re: I agree with the sentiments...
Thanks Cheugon! I have been saying the same thing since I started blogging: help people! Only then do the real causes/oppressors show up. Otherwise, it remains whatever we are told by mainstream media.

Re: I tend to be cheerful because I dwell on the good I am doing
Thanks cpklapper! You seem to be evolving in your way! That is perfectly acceptable. The contemplation of 'what is' stimulates thought on the causes and the cures. I feel overwhelmed sometimes but next moment I am back doing what I need to. While God's doings remain an unknown, one hopes that he will enter the fray in a decisive way, sometime! The Hindu scriptures have examples of that. I love the last quote... Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead! Sometimes, it is wise to do just this! Take care!

Re: Re: I agree with the sentiments...
And that's what I expected you're motives to be. You're just raising awareness. Maintaining peace of heart amidst oppression is one thing, being ignorant of your oppressors is another. Keep up the good work, my friend.

I tend to be cheerful because I dwell on the good I am doing
and will do as long as I have breath.  I have no desire and see no point in constantly fighting a rearguard action against those doing ill and evil in the world.  It only distracts me from my work.  My prayers and those of millions others throughout the world are with the victims and all who hurt, as well as with those whose calling it is to right wrongs and help those in trouble.  But my actions, ingenuity and emotions are unabashedly tied to my purpose, my destiny.

"The best defense is a good offense."  -- Vince Lombardi

"Isn't the best defense always a good attack?" -- Ovid

"Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!" -- Admiral Farragut

Re: Re: Re: Taps
I know you do, Soul_builder.  I was not speaking of you personally and I did not mean to infer that no negative-minded person ever gave or helped.   Neither positive or negative is an end in itself or has any merit at all if that is the intended goal.

Re: Re: Taps
Thanks! I have done posts wherein I examined POS/NEG and showed that it was created to drive the push for material success! I still maintain that these are not qualities in spiritual people for their goal is different! Rather things like the presence of compassion and understanding differentiates them from materialists. I do my share!

Re: Taps
Soul_builder, I totally agree that we should and must help those in need, feed the poor, treat the ill, the wounded, minister to the suffering.  I also find that the ones who do the most of the giving and the helping seems to be those who are of a positive nature.  The negative people do a lot of talking while the positive ones are busy with what needs to be done.

Re: I agree with the sentiments...
Thanks Cheugon! I Did not do this to spread despair or depression. Knowing the problems, how can one help....that's the kind of social consciousness that is called for! We may be the eternal victims of the rich but helping one another is the way out. The news may not be good, but it is there, there is nothing dark about it! Ingrained attitudes are no help to understanding the reality that is so harsh, to so many people at this time!

Taps
Thanks! I don't think God gives merit badges for ENJOYERS and Positivists. Information such as this should stir up concern for those 'under the gun' NOT stereo-typical accusations of 'negative doomsayer'. Food and shelter are 2 basic needs for human survival. Seeing the situation at hand and contemplating solutions is what it is about, not the brandishing of platitudes to fault the messenger! We cannot stop the rich but we can help those in need!

Elyse
The positive people are those who refuse to look at what is happening right in front of their faces. They probably belong to the 85% who don't even read newspapers. They pull the wool over their own eyes and pretend the world is nice and dandy! At least you recognize the need to act to help others, even if it is to give hope! Denial solves nothing!

Thanks! I really don't understand the question! I did my research and wrote the post! Is bad news darkness? If so, there is not much LIGHT in the world!

I agree with the sentiments...
...of the others. If the situation is out of our control, then what's the point in despair? My life is valuable to me and walking around depressed isn't how I want to live my life. That doesn't mean, however, that we don't take notice of what's going on. It's just that to surrender to despair serves no useful purpose....for anyone. Doesn't the Bible say that "in the world, you shall have tribulation?" But, the message that Jesus taught was to have joy in the face of adversity. Otherwise, we should all just dig holes and jump in them and pull the dirt in over us. You're a briliiant man, Soul Builder, but, to get too caught up in the dark side of things is just as inadviseable as to be too trusting. Always your friend~Charles.

Soul_builder, if "crunch time" is really here to stay and there is nothing that can be done about it, then one might as well be positive and have hope.  At least the positive and hopeful will enjoy what life is left much more than those who are negative doom-sayers.

what is the positive people?  or rather who are the positive people? Elyse ---- it's true Dave there is so much devestation and so much hunger, starvation, pain --- gruesome acts of violence and horrible things going on but, is there ever any bliss to recognize?  I am very active --- socially conscious and I do believe that even a simple 'smile' can feed a soul - at touch - a KIND word ~HOPE, because Dave there has to be HOPE sometimes --- hope for even an end to all this suffering ----wars...all the dark --- I believe myself that hope ---- joy --- passed on will bring light - light over the dark.  I must be too simple I guess.  Peace ~Elyse
