Well put, vogue...

Yeah well I would want to know
what else did they give their employees for the week. Did they serve them for a week and do their floors and make their meals. Now I would consider that true appreciation. give the keys to the Rolls and Jag and let them ride in style. For one week the master of the house and the mistress must each day take the role of one of their 'servants'. that would be true appreciation.

I chilled at the thought of wearing such a shirt. The  last indignity.

You're making a great point. Most people probably don't pick up on the implications of something as small as a t-shirt. Very perspicacious.

vogue, So many companies do this type of thing--logo shirts, advertisement shirts.  I especially abhor the policy when it is supposed to be for "appreciation".   If it has to be a shirt one is appreciated with, let it be a shirt with no advertisements of any kind.  I agree.  It is a form of hypocracy.  The employee is being used whether they realize it or not.

It's amazing how people do this and don't care, it's absurd. well written.

Re: I think I agree with you on this one cos I can't stand hypocrisy.
It certainly is straightforward, if it is genuine and heartfelt. In this case I have my doubts.

I think I agree with you on this one cos I can't stand hypocrisy.
Though I do think that public appreciation of employees is good.

How much you want to bet they made the employees pay for the T-shirts?

You might not know the whole story (and neither do I!).  But since it's Appreciation WEEK - there may have been other perks delivered to these hard-working employees, and not just a T-Shirt.  Maybe the woman was proud to wear it, and not forced to at all.  Though I'm not sure about that because there are some pretty head-in-the-clouds people on Fisher Island and exclusive communities like that!
