What do you need with someone who has a drug problem? Were the tears for yourself or for him? I think you are well rid of him - get yourself a decent fellow!

I know it is probably too late...
but the thought occurs to me that things might have worked out better for the both of you if you told him that your handling him was beside the point, that you didn't need to be handling anybody but if he wanted to be with you, as he clearly did, then it was time to straighten up and fly straight. Then if you gave him a time and place to meet a year from then, you can resume your romance if he got off the drugs, or if he doesn't show or is still an addict, you can stop holding out hope for him knowing you did your best helping him kick the habit and you could never really be the love of his life since he loved cocaine more.
